La lista oficial de nominados al Oscar 2026 ya está publicada por la Academia, y sí: Guillermo del Toro no aparece en la categoría de Mejor Dirección. Punto. No es rumor, no es “trascendido”: simplemente no está.
Lo interesante es que Del Toro no quedó fuera “del Oscar” como tal: su Frankenstein sí amarra Mejor Película y, además, él mismo figura como nominado en Guion Adaptado. O sea: no lo invitan a dirigir en la mesa principal, pero sí le reservan silla en otras categorías clave.

Lo de Del Toro: no es “cancelación”, es política de nominaciones (y duele igual)
La lectura más fría es esta: la rama de Directores no lo subió. La lectura más realista (y más sabrosa) es que la Academia decidió “mirar afuera” en Dirección este año, dejando a Del Toro como uno de los cortes más comentados del anuncio.
Y aun así, Frankenstein se coló donde importa: Mejor Película, Guion Adaptado, y una lista de nominaciones técnicas donde la película se siente “de paquete completo”. Si me preguntas, la clave está en esto: no le premiaron la batuta, pero sí reconocieron el cuerpo de la obra.
Jacob Elordi: el momento se volvió nominación (y eso ya cambia la conversación)
Aquí no hay que marear la perdiz: Jacob Elordi está nominado al Oscar como Actor de Reparto por Frankenstein. Eso lo coloca en una vitrina distinta —la de “ya no es promesa / ya es competencia”— y además lo mete en una categoría donde la pelea viene cargada (Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Stellan Skarsgård, Delroy Lindo…).
El mapa grande: Sinners lidera, Warner se adueña del tablero y hay categoría nueva
El titular industrial del día: Sinners hace historia con 16 nominaciones, y One Battle after Another le pisa los talones con 13.
Y sí, este año debuta la categoría de Casting (por fin alguien le pone reflector al trabajo que define medio elenco de tu vida).

- Si el “récord” de Sinners se traduce en victorias o se queda en músculo de nominación;
- Si Frankenstein se vuelve el caballo negro técnico (y si Elordi capitaliza la narrativa)
- Cómo se comporta la nueva categoría de Casting en su primer año —porque cuando la Academia abre una puerta, rara vez la vuelve a cerrar.
